Lani is a member of Microsoft’s EU Government Affairs team in Brussels where she focuses on data and privacy issues. She also manages the company’s EU academic partnerships. Prior to this role, she was a Senior Attorney at the company’s headquarters in Redmond. From 2014-15, Lani split her time between Microsoft and the Data & Society Research Institute, where she was an inaugural fellow. She focused her research on online advertising and the economics of the Internet. Prior to joining Microsoft, Lani worked as a reporter, investigator and litigator. Lani earned her B.S. in International Economics from the School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University and her J.D. from George Washington University Law School where she was a member of the George Washington University Law Review.
